National Retailer Moves 3.64 MW Closer to Renewable Energy Targets

SoCore and Sun Valley Solar Solutions Deploy Solar Installations at Five Big Box Retail Locations

Chandler, Arizona-based Sun Valley Solar Solutions and Chicago-based SoCore Energy are nearing completion of major solar energy projects for five big box retail stores throughout the greater Phoenix area. Starting last summer, four solar retrofits are complete, with the final sites on track for completion in late spring this year.

SoCore Energy reviewed numerous responses during their request for proposal (RFP) process before selecting Sun Valley Solar Solutions as their local partner on this project. The Chandler-based firm beat numerous local and national installers to win the projects being completed for a high-profile national retailer.

The five sites are a mix of four retail locations and a distribution center near 75^th Avenue in Phoenix. Retail sites include two in Mesa, Peoria, Westgate, and Glendale.

When commissioned, the environmental impact of the new Phoenix-area systems will be dramatic.  Combined at their peak production, these five locations can produce 3.64MW, enough to power almost 600 homes and avoid the carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to burning nearly 5,000,000 pounds of coal annually, according to estimates generated by the Environmental Protection Agency’s greenhouse gas equivalencies calculator.
