Solar Companies in Arizona: How We Rank
Sun Valley Solar Solutions is an Arizona solar panel installation company started in 2006 by two former Intel engineers, Russ Patzer and Joe Messner.
With millions of watts of installed solar power and hundreds of satisfied residential and commercial customers throughout Arizona, including Maricopa, Pinal, Navajo, Pima, Cochise, Coconino and Yavapai counties, Sun Valley Solar has become a major AZ solar contractor.
Sun Valley Solar Solutions ranks 3rd in Arizona solar companies’ total installed kW volume in 2012 – jumping way up from 2011 when we ranked 7th in residential volume only — and this in same year that Arizona moved up to second place in overall solar install volume in the United States! (Arizona ranks slightly behind California.) Sun Valley Solar Solutions was the highest volume SunPower dealer nationally from Jan – June of 2012. And, we are the 15th largest solar installer in the United States.
But we’ll never be too big to take care of our customers personally.
It’s great to be one of the biggest residential solar installers, but it’s even better to be one of the best. We continue to have one of the highest customer satisfaction scores in the nation, and it’s because of these customers that we continue to grow. Our primary source of new business comes from personal referrals.
Choosing the Best Panels
Patzer and Messner researched and chose the most efficient, highest performance solar panels and equipment they could find when they founded the company. They were searching for quality solar panels with high electrical output even in extreme desert heat. As engineers, they were rigorous in their research and commitment to quality.
Sun Valley Solar Solutions was one of the first APS-certified solar installers, requiring ROC licenses in good standing, high-level knowledge of solar electric system design, commitment to rigorous continuing education, and high customer satisfaction ratings. Two of our engineers / electrical designers hold NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certification—an even more rigorous program. Sun Valley Solar is also accredited and rated A+ by the Better Business Bureau, is an Angie’s List Super Service Award, is a member of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the Electric League of Arizona, the Arizona Solar Industries Association, the U.S. Green Building Council, and holds three licenses in good standing with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
We handle ALL aspects of system design and installation in-house. We’re licensed, bonded and insured and do not use subcontractors.
The Sun Valley Solar Solutions difference: Superior Service. Superior Standards. Superior Systems.
“My business partner Joe Messner and I own Sun Valley Solar Solutions. Joe and I met while we were both engineers at Intel Corporation in Chandler. We discovered we had many similar interests and backgrounds — growing up in small towns, working long hours on farms and ranches as youngsters. Work assignments had taken me to Oregon and Joe to Ireland. In Ireland, Joe witnessed the European conscientiousness toward the environment. In Oregon, I observed the focus on alternative energies like solar in a state with considerably less sunshine than Arizona. As we flew back to Phoenix from these assignments, we independently arrived at the same conclusion: ‘why are we not looking down at a sea of solar panels on the rooftops of Phoenix? Every house and building should have solar because we are in the bull’s eye of solar radiation in the United States.’
Combining our growing interest in renewable energy and our desire to create a company based on our core principles, we sketched out a business plan in the Intel cafeteria for an alternative energy company. Our goal in 2006 remains the same today: deliver the highest quality to each and every customer without the high prices. We also vowed to innovate and advance technology, be open and honest with our customers and employees, provide for our employees and help develop them, and be committed to 100 percent customer loyalty.
We began with the customer. We believe in educating the customer rather than “selling” our customers. We are open and honest about the prices, tax credits, and the real performance of solar over time. Our “sales” staff is required to complete advanced training on solar system design, system performance, and National Electrical Code. By the time they are through with training, they are expert Solar Integrators, not fast talkers trying to make a quick sale.
We make it a point to exceed installation regulatory requirements. And we’re meticulous about craftsmanship, using a level tool as much as any of our other tools so that conduit lines, meters and inverters are installed straight and square. Arizona statute requires a two-year warranty on workmanship, so we make it ten years instead. We’re that committed to quality.” –Russ Patzer, CEO
Studies have shown that for every $100 spent in a locally-owned business, roughly $42 remains right here in Arizona, while for the same $100 spent with a national chain, only $13 remains here. When you choose Sun Valley Solar Solutions, you are helping not only the planet, but also your local economy.
